I think Geelong will have a powerful argument to play games against Fremantle and interstate clubs in Geelong for future finals though.

That stand is pretty sensational. First time I've had a look at it were Yob's photos.

Mistakes and incidents from last night
1. The old and long Freo song was played over the PA system instead of the newer shorter version
2. The techs have no idea how to work the video screen sometimes.
3. A fire sprinkler went off in one of the food outlets in the new stand at half-time, flooding the top concourse and closing the outlet.
4. Geelong's goal kicking
5. No info (until 9:30) of what was going on at the MCG.
6. Did my hamstring

Ross Lyon wrote:At the start of the year, you thought if you finished third you wouldn't be playing in a regional centre.
You'd be playing in a metropolis at world-class venues.
I've not been to Subiaco, but reading posts on here, I assume it's not world class.

The Labor party pledged 70 million toward the next stage of redevelopment - if they won the election.

Then they won the election.

The project, known as stage four, will replace the Brownlow and Jennings stands, meaning new change rooms for the Geelong players, a new media centre and a rise in the stadium's capacity from 33,500 to 36,000.
If Labor wins the election and stage four is completed, it will leave the Ford Stand and the Gary Ablett Terrace as the last areas to be redeveloped.

That project, which is known as stage five and will boost the stadium's capacity to 40,000, also has an approximate price tag of $70 million.

We'll be up to around the Geelong logo on this render.

Stadium has really snuck up on everyone. Slowly and steadily beats instant gratification yet again.

Huge success with 22k attending Friday night. Looked great on TV. Although I've heard plenty of complaints on social media - the club was expecting around 15k so there weren't enough ticket outlets and gates open, members (all of which were given GA access only) were mixed with the public, not enough catering outlets open, stock running out etc. Many people were still only getting into the ground well into the first half. It's a multi-year deal so they just need to get the above sorted and I'm sure the experience itself will be improved next year as the venue looked great. Pity about the result!

The sides and the corners look much closer to the field then at the cake tin, while the ends look much father away

The pitch was positioned closer to the outer side of the ground - not centered.
