The major flaw with the design is that it just continues the roof around the stadium which results in 50% of the seats being within the drip line. We all complain about the inadequate roof at SFS yet the design brief there was for cover for 60% of seats.St James wrote:yob wrote:That image is quite sexual.
Yep, it is actually, for an Eels and Wanderers fan.
It's the perfect solution if that continued the whole way around the stadium, with plenty of corporate space at the back, as is current with the western stand. Sad thing is, stadium designers in this country generally f**k things up, so, it's a pipe dream.
Suncorp is the best big rectangular stadium in the country.
This would go close to being the best small one. MRS is probably a notch above what this could achieve.

The Wanderers approached Venues NSW to see if the expansions at the north and south ends could be completed by the start of the new season.
Hmm. Design, get approvals, call tenders and build in 10 weeks. I think not.

Meh, build it without approvals and plant a few trees outside so the council can't bust you on google maps.gyfox wrote:Hmm. Design, get approvals, call tenders and build in 10 weeks. I think not.

Or if they're genuinely concerned about capacity in the short term they could play games at ANZ while they lift the capacity at Parra Stadium. Do what Seattle does in the MLS and restrict the capacity in order to push the crowd together.

Temporary stands take all of a week to put up. They could go large with those things as well, have a defacto kop on one end while they build the other.
Hell, I watched an NSL grand final in a temporary stand - City getting done at Hindmarsh by Mark Viduka.

When they have limited funds why would they waste any on temporary work? Better to just put up with the limits of the current stands for another season.yob wrote:Temporary stands take all of a week to put up. Temporary stands are a profitable exercise if you've sold the seats. If they get the pre-commitment then go for it. They're dirt cheap.gyfox wrote:When they have limited funds why would they waste any on temporary work? Better to just put up with the limits of the current stands for another season.

At the moment there are still 6.5k seats not sold to members out of 19.5k so there is no shortage. The shortage will be for walk ups or fans from other clubs which is not guaranteed income.

New football fans? or more likely bandwagonners looking for the next 'cool' event to be seen at or to talk about at the water cooler Monday, not a solid group of people to chase IMO.gyfox wrote:yob wrote:Temporary stands are a profitable exercise if you've sold the seats. I remember that game. And that configuration of Hindmarsh. Looked similar to what it is now but the bottom levels were terrace spacked like a mosh pityob wrote:Temporary stands take all of a week to put up. I was there also. We saw something really special that day(on and off the pitch. I wish there were more pictures of it online.Simmo79 wrote:I remember that game. And that configuration of Hindmarsh. Really happy to hear Lyall Gorman state that German-style convertible standing/seating areas are being considered for this upgrade.
eg: http://www.safestandingroadshow.co.uk/home
Wanderers fans already create an amazing atmosphere. I firmly believe standing areas enhance the ability to create a 'proper' football atmosphere, by virtue of there being more voices concentrated in a defined area.
