The Trinity Road stand a beautiful monument of English football, the facade was fantastic.
I can't believe it wasn't a listed building.
I realise that modernisation is needed but it was quite smart inside as it was and I can't believe they couldn't have increased capacity(not that Villa needed to)added a cantilever roof and kept the facade and grand old rooms like they did at Ibrox.

A massive waste of style, culture and history when the trinity Rd stand was demolished. Pretty much unjustified because Villa replaced it with a stand that only added 5,000 (in a period when they were no longer selling out every game) and the new stand itself is of a largely forgettable design.
I miss places I never visited. Waverley and the No. 4 Stand at Lancaster Park.
I also appreciate the old SCG but the the first time I visited the place it was already all seater.
Sydney doesn't have many demolished stadia. As soon as we are done with a ground, we move on. Many old RL grounds are still here.
Campbelltown Stadium's old bleachers at the northern end were quirky. No real merit (I guess that depends on your persepective though ) but certainly memorable.
Waverley opened in 1970 and the last AFL home and away game was in 1999. The following season the VFL (sic) used it for Monday night games hosting Springvale with the GF of that competition held there as well that year. Untill the early 90's it was a neutral venue that all teams played at. When Hawthorn moved from Princes Park in 1990 and St Kilda from Moorabbin in 1991 it became the home ground for those teams.
There main reason why the stadium closed down was mainly due to the AFL transferring its interests to the new stadium that was being built at the Docklands. It argued that it wasn't equitable to have a 72,000 all seater stadium that was showing its age just for the purpose of two teams when a new state-of-the-art ground was being built that the AFL would have sole ownership rights of in 32(?) years time and a multitude of clubs could share and gain financial benefit from. There were many behind the scenes political machinations regarding the grounds future, the building of Docklands and the forces involved but pretty much the above is the reason why the venue was terminated.
To add to my list I will put the old Sydney Showground Members Stand and the Martin & Angus Stand. The former was a big and charming number and the latter was some odd shaped exposed concrete monolith - a rowdy beast.
I will extend the topic to include theatres. Went past the site of the now demolished Her Majesty's Theatre on Quay St yesterday. It was one of the last brutalist theatres left in Sydney. The uncertain future of the Greater Union Pitt Centre (currently a discount store that occassionally opens to show soccer in the theatre) means that Sydney could be left wthout an example of the structure.
Perry Park - IIRC was mostly bleacher-type temp stands. I remember watching the ABL one-hour highlights package on Ch10 in the graveyard timeslot. The heat played there before moving to the WACA, but Perry Park was no more interesting a place than any un-developed suburban ground.

Alternatively, if you went to Cranbrook, one of your alumni wanted to develop the site but he got nowhere. He seems to be over it and is currently amusing himself with casinos and TV networks.
its next door to SGS' Weigall palying grounds (where the Socceroos have trained before WCQs) and the Edgecliff prep school. I've never been to the prep school but was under the impression it was cramped an needed a bit of expansion. So why not buy the country's most famous tennis club?
