Bernabeu Stadium

Post by Kevash »

I was recently lucky enough to be in Madrid when they where playing Mallorca. The photos below are from the 2nd cheapest seats but actually i thought they where great seats for 30 Euro ($A50) compared to the second cheapest at TS.

I was surprised and thrilled that Real Madrid had their full strength line up on.. Zidane was on the bench!

Hope you like the pics even though they are dodgy scans.

You can see the trajectory of Beck's free kick before he's even taken it.

Great pictures

Amazing pictures. I visited the stadium two years ago and it was very impressive. As you say Kevash the view from the cheap seats is exceptional. There is a good seat gradient generally keeping fans "on top of" the action instead of keeping them away from the action.

Where else did you go in Spain?

Took the year off in 2005 and traveled to 15 countries.. Burried somewhere i also have photos of Nou Camp, the Olympic Stadium, Seville's Home (cant remember the name of it) in spain, plus many stadia from other countries.

Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is so steep! Australian safety guidelines prob wouldnt allow it.

The game atmosphere actually starts way before you get to the ground... everyone seemed to travel by the metro as the stadium is in the north of the city.... outside was amazing... street venders sellling sunflower seeds and cheap drinks. (these seeds im sure cause much harm as they are discarded everywhere on the steep stairs inside)

hoping these photos can somehow show how steep the upper tier is, and why the view from any seat is great.

I visited Atletico Madrid the day after a match and the whole place was littered with the scraps of the shells! I know exactly what you mean.

Overall I found Madrid a pretty subdued place. It hasn't the energy of Barca or even Lisbon!

Does anybody know the precise angle of those tiers?

I would guess 85 degrees for the upper tiers.

Um, Egan, that comes out to a gradient of 11.43!!!

As in for every 1 metre across, 11.43 metres up.

or maybe 45 degrees

85  attending any home match would be like re-creating 'touching the void' (cool film if you haven't seen it)
