In a three year deal, Jade Stadium in Christchurch is set to host the Wests Tigers in a home game against the Warriors on June 12.
It's good timing, coming after the Super 12 but before the Test and NPC season.
It's the first official NRL match at the venue and the only opportunity for South Island league fans to catch a game in their own backyard.

It was announced last year and then formally re-announced recently (to get in the media).
A good idea and better now that the Wests Tigers are in form. Don't expect a big crowd. Anything above 12K is a success IMO. RL has suffered in SI for a while. They used to have annual North Island v south Island clashes but haven't for 20 years I think.
