With no Aussie Rules this weekend, Melbourne is a buzz with Rugby Union in town. There will be around, or more than 55,000 people at Telstra Dome tomorrow night. As of yesterday, just 1,700 standing room and 340 restricted view tickets remain for the match. Some are predicting the record crowd for the stadium (56,605 - Brittish Lions v Wallabies in 2001) to be broken.
Melbourne Storm are also taking advantage of the AFL-Free weekend offering discounted tickets ($10) to AFL, MCC, & AFL Club Members who show their cards at the gate. With the game not being showed live on Fox (Channel 9 game, I think the first game of the year), hopefully a big crowd comes out to support the storm. I'll be there.
However in today's Herald Sun, 10 of the 19 sports pages still include AFL on them! And 2 pages each for Union and League.
