What it will cost you to watch an AFL Final

Footy finals to hit WA pockets hard

By Ross Lewis

WEST Coast and Fremantle supporters will pay more than Eastern States fans to watch a home AFL final this season.

Under the AFL's pricing list, a standard adult ticket at Subiaco Oval in the first week of the finals will cost adults $10 more than a corresponding seat at Brisbane's Gabba for a similar match.

West Coast and Fremantle have strong chances of hosting finals.

But the cheapest standard adult ticket for a round one final at Subiaco Oval is $42 - more than the MCG ($40), Telstra Dome and AAMI Stadium ($36.60), the Gabba ($32) and the SCG ($35).

The adult tickets rise to $47 for a prime seat and $52 for a premium seat.

All ticket prices include a booking fee. There is a $6.25 transaction fee for tickets bought for Subiaco Oval on credit card. Up to 10 tickets can be bought for one transaction fee.

An AFL spokesman said yesterday finals prices were based on ticket costs at each ground during the home-and-away season.

West Coast chief executive Trevor Nisbett said he would ask the WA Football Commission to lobby the AFL.

"In fairness to the AFL, they are setting prices according to each market. They know that in Perth a final will be a sell-out whereas Brisbane, Sydney, and Adelaide have had finals there recently that haven't sold out."

WAFC chief executive Wayne Bradshaw said prices were related to the size of venues but the WAFC would speak to the AFL.

we used to pay an excess at the gabba prior to redevelopment... didn't mind it so much then... buzz has worn off a little now though...

interesting to compare those prices... wonder how much the GF will be?
wonder if it'll be as expensive as the NRL...

Tickets to the 2003 Telstra Premiership Grand Final now on sale to season ticket holders. Tickets start at just $32 for Adults, $22 for Concessions $83.00 for a family of four.

wow! hope they get a good crowd...
