Steve Waugh
I think that the public have overreacted to Steve Waugh's omission from Australian cricket's World Cup team. Its time that new blood was injected into the team so that a strong future can be guaranteed. While Waugh has been an excellent captain and has a great reputation as one of the world's best players, others need to be given a chance. Besides, not every great sportsperson can always go out on their own terms. So, sorry Steve, just deal with it, its nothing personal.

If he is not displaying the right form then you should not pick him. That goes for all the players. If Stephen starts piling on the runs than bring him back for sure. But in replacing him, and in general, I disagree with all this allrounder picking for one dayers. I think you should pick specialist batsmen and bowlers just like you would a Test side. Littering your middle order with mediocrity does not work IMO.
The public overracted because of the nature of cricket. It is the only sport which still has this old fashioned mentality (more than any other sport) of picking captains for life and relying so much on reputation. Any other sport and you would not hear a thing about it.
I love cricket, I'm going to the one-dayer tomorrow. I hope the Aussies do well. In all honesty, they are going so well they could afford to carry both Waughs out of form. But that shouldn't be the team's attitude. It sets a bad example.
