Re: International cricket 2010
43,500 at the first day of the Sydney Test.
It might be a new year, but the Australian batsmen are displaying all the same characteristics as last year. The really worrying thing is that they don't appear to have the temperament for Test cricket when you need to knuckle down and just bat. Hughes was looking good for a while but threw his wicket away with a rush of blood to the head. And for all the gushing about the new kid, Khawaja did exactly the same. Can't concentrate for any length of time.
having said that, I would persist with both of them. The only way they're going to learn that skill is by keeping them in the team. I wouldn't be bringing Ponting back, and Clarke must be perilously close to getting the shove as well. Maybe it's time to do a clean out and start from scratch with a young team?

Re: International cricket 2010
Good crowd, I think I read the first three days are sold out.
Nothing was mentioned on here regarding the Melbourne crowds. Such a pity the Australian Cricket team is hopeless and the test didn't go for five quality days. We had 84,345, 67,149, 68,733 then 19,889 mostly English fans on the final day to see them wrap up the test. Great crowds, especially the first day in average weather conditions which saw a rain delay, I'm sure sunny conditions like day 4 would have seen the record broken.

It seems the members let the team down. How many members does the MCG have (in relation to how many seats are allocated to them)? SCG seems to have the opposite problem - too many members, not enough seats...cam wrote:Good crowd, I think I read the first three days are sold out.

Re: International cricket 2010
Yeah seemed to be the case on day 1 - was only approx 15k or so. There were actually more members at the ground on day 3 than there were for days 1 and 2. The capacity of the MCC members reserve is 23k. As at August 2010, there are 101,509 MCC members, which comprises 61,180 Full members and 40,329 Restricted members. There are also 205,732 waiting list candidates.

So there are like 80,000 MCC members that are Members for the sake of being MCC members?

Red hot form?!? Have you been watching the games or just looking at the win/loss results? The only reason Australia has won these games is that England are clearly sick of being on the road. They set themselves the task of winning the Ashes this summer and they succeeded. They have clearly clocked off mentally and are putting some pretty ordinary players into the team - probably to give the main guys a bit of a rest before the World Cup.mayankarea51 wrote:looks like australians are backin' up to win the world cup 11...... are in red hot form in the CB series against Pomsss......!
The Australian batsmen are wildly incosistent at best and Clarke would almost certainly have been dropped by now if he wasn't captain. Horribly out of form. Bowling is slightly better (and seems greatly improved by Johnson's absence) with Brett Lee being the only player who is consistently good at the moment.
Three wins in a row, but as a result of a single batting effort by Watson in the first game, Marsh (and Bollinger of all people) in the second and David Hussey and Brad Haddin in the third. Strong team efforts they have not been.

How did the term ton ever come to mean 100 when as a unit of measure it has usually meant ~1,000.
Baffling.

Match tied.
The series is 1-1 with a tie. That's a big downturn for our ODI team. Is it too cramped a schedule they have to deal with?
