Windy Hill
I love the stand behind the goals, the art deco style one. Similiar to the ripper at Glenferrie oval

Time for a Whitten Oval $20 million redevelopment update. The quality of the pics were constrained by the construction perimeter fence, big mounds of dirt where the terraces used to be, and a tight schedule, but I managed this much -
Starting with the Bulldog Shop, now in an old portable classroom facing Barkly St, whilst the entire ground is now off-limits in the contruction area.
Back view of whats replacing the North end terraces.
Got this shot of the two grandstands being joined by standing on a concrete fence pillar in front of a block of flats the other side of Gordon St.
And heading to the right (North) to the other new construction. I haven't researched what each new part is for yet.
A wider view of the same.
And finally a street level view of the North end. I'm pretty sure that new buildings will also go up in the Southwest part as well (to the left of all the above) - maybe will get at my next visit with a camera.

I like what they've done out there - top photos again. Going to be great for the Footscray Football Club in the VFL in 2014.

BTW, I never could figure out whether South Aussies or Victorians hated Oakley more.

22 pic gallery of Whitten Oval, old and new. There's been a slight facility upgrade to host this weekend's preseason match (which is almost sold out btw).
