The Western Force have asked the State Government if the present redevelopment of Members Equity Stadium could incorporate 25,000 seats and have a far greater proportion of corporate boxes in the eastern grandstand.

The Force have requested a funding increase to the present project in order to gain the extra corporate facilities and capacity that it desires for the venue.

The Force have yet to sign the contract to play at the purpose-built venue and are waiting upon the Government's decision on the funding increase for Members Equity Stadium. Austadiums.com understands the State Government will be making a decision on the extra funding for the stadium in the next few weeks which comes on top of the 25 million dollars allocated in the State Budget.

The CEO of the Western Force Peter O'Meara confirmed the club was in negotiation with the Town of Vincent and the State Government for a capacity increase. "We are in discussions with the Town of Vincent and the State Government about increasing the capacity of Members Equity but those discussions are ongoing and have yet to reach a conclusion."

Although a representative from the Town of Vincent states that the main reason behind the funding request is to cater for the Force's large corporate base which has sold out Subiaco Oval for the 2006 Super 14 season. "It's more about increasing the amount of corporate facilities rather than increasing the capacity".

A source from within the Department of Sports and Recreation also confirmed that the central purpose behind the Force's request was to increase the corporate facilities from the original plan which was launched in October 2004.

The extra funding request comes on the back of the WAFC failing to convince the State Government to give it extra funding for a capacity increase at Subiaco Oval.
