A deal has finally been signed for AFL to be played at the new Perth Stadium from 2018.
It follows months of tense negotiations between the WA Government, the Australian Football League and the WA Football Commission, where the AFL recently renewed its threat to continue playing at Subiaco Oval.
The agreement includes the WAFC getting a guaranteed $10.3 million a year for the first 10 years. The financial arrangements will then be reviewed after the initial period.
The stadium is due to be officially opened in January, and will be the home venue for matches for WA's two AFL clubs, the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers.
The 2018 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture will be released on Tuesday 31 October.
The first Australian Rules Football match at the $1.6 billion venue will be a Fremantle Dockers AFLW match on February 10. The game is expected to draw a record crowd for the AFL Women’s competition in its second season.
