Hagley Oval (NZ)

Hagley Oval is conveniently located in Hagley Park in the central city of Christchurch and has hosted cricket for more than 150 years. The first cricket match to be played on Hagley Park was on 16 December 1851 as part of the new settlement’s first anniversary celebrations.

Hagley Oval was redeveloped to become a first-class venue for cricket in Christchurch following the closure of Lancaster Park after the 2011 earthquakes. The ground hosted matches during the 2015 Cricket World Cup with temporary seating boosting capacity from 9,000 to 20,000. Lights are set to be installed in the near future to allow for night matches at the venue.
