Perry Lakes Stadium will be demolished in 2006 and a new 10,000 seat Athletics venue will take its place; according to Chief Executive Officer of the Town of Cambridge Graham Partridge.

Although the stadium has long been apart of Perth's sporting history, the facility will be demolished sometime in 2006 after tenders are put out and a new stadium will be constructed on part of the existing land, which will be funded by the development and selling of the residential area.

The site of the 1962 Commonwealth Games, the venue has only sold out three times in its history and the rundown facilities and poor access has prevented many from attending the venue in Perth's Western Suburbs.
