New Name for Perth's Premier Motorsport Venue

Austadiums • Wednesday 23rd August 2006

It's official. Perth's premier motorsport venue is now officially known as the Perth Motorplex.

Perth Motorplex General Manager Kevin Prendergast said the subtle name change was an easy decision to make after the venue operators elected to discontinue the partnership with Healthway and the "Quit" message when the Healthway Board insisted their policy prohibited smoking in any area that offers a view of the Drag Racing or Speedway activity, which is most of the Motorplex arena.

"The use of the Perth element will ensure the venue location is instantly recognised by drag racing and speedway fans across Australia and around the globe," said Mr Prendergast.

The Perth Motorplex has been widely acknowledged as one of the best speedway and drag racing venues in the Australia with a highly experienced management team.

"Perth Motorplex attracts around 250,000 people each year and once again we have an exciting program of events scheduled for the new season commencing in September" said Mr Prendergast.

The Perth Motorplex will host nearly 100 events this season including National and Off Street Drag Racing, Super Speedway, Fast Friday and specialist events such as Motorvation and Good Friday Burnout King.

Highlights of the coming season will include the return of the World Series Sprintcars and the Australian Super Sedan Championships for Speedway along with rounds of the Australian Top Fuel and Top Doorslammer Drag Racing Championships.
