The Sydney Cricket Ground is installing a new, huge Panasonic LED screen to add excitement to all Cricket, AFL and Rugby League games played at the iconic venue.

The screen will be installed in time for the 2010-11 International cricket season which commences with Australia's One Day International against Sri Lanka on November 5.

The 157 square metre super-bright screen is approximately three storeys high and displays vision in an impressive ultra wide 23 x 9 'cinemascope' format.

It will be installed on the parapet of the Dally Messenger Stand and will provide live on-field vision, full score updates, and venue information.

Banner eight metre square LED signage will also be installed on the parapet levels of the Bradman Stand and the Churchill Stand and provide fans with a news ticker with the latest score and information updates.

Mark Deere-Jones, Director, Business Systems Group, Panasonic said: "The Sydney Cricket Ground is one of Australia's finest sporting venues. We are pleased to be chosen to provide the latest technology to enhance the at-ground experience for sporting fans.

"Panasonic's LED screens have been installed in some of the world's most prominent venues such as New York City's Madison Square Garden and the Beijing Olympic Stadium, and have shown some of the world's greatest sporting moments."

The new LED screen is 18.8 metres wide and 8.3 metres high. It is designed for outstanding viewing with a vivid picture even in bright Australian conditions and direct sunlight, with a bright 7000 cd/m2 (candelas per square metre) display, and 23 trillion colours.

SCG Trust Chief Executive, Jamie Barkley, said: "The SCG today hosts Cricket, AFL and Rugby League, and we are focused on enhancing the fans match day experience.

"The bigger and improved screen will provide even more enjoyment for fans with replays of all the on-field moments plus full match scoring.

"Panasonic was chosen because of the screen's picture quality, its track-record in installations and its local presence, as well as the ability to deliver the long term quality performance, reliability and support you expect from the brand name."
