Toorak Park

Toorak Park

Toorak Park opened in 1893 and is most well known as home of the Prahran Football Club who played in the VFA. The Two Blues called the ground home between 1899 and when they departed the league in 1994. These days, the Armadale ground is home of the Old Xaverians and Prahran Assumption who play in the VAFA, as well as the Prahran Cricket Club who play in the Victorian Premier Cricket competition.

The ground includes a grandstand in the pocket with seating for about 500 and function room, undercover terracing on the wing and a grass hill surrounding it, with an estimated capacity of around 7,000. Four tall light towers provide reasonable lighting and new lights were installed in 2016 to improve the quality. A new video scoreboard was installed in 2013 to replace the old manual scoreboard. The venue is being progressively upgraded with a new pavilion to replace the existing grandstand and other facilities to be improved over time.

Toorak Park played host to four VFA Grand Finals between 1935 and 1938, the last of which attracted approximately 17,000 fans for the clash between Brunswick and Brighton - a record crowd for the venue. It also hosted the VFA division two Grand Finals when it existed and has hosted 13 VFL matches including St Kilda home games and one South Melbourne home game in the 1940's.
