Collegians Sports Centre
The Collegians Sports Centre is the new home of the Collegians Rugby League Club. Opened in mid-2013, the venue was formerly Lysaghts Oval and the half-built derelict site has been transformed at a cost of $4.2m to become a showpiece for local Rugby League in the Illawarra region. The venue was set to become the new home of the Wollongong Wolves and soccer in the region however financial difficulties forced the Wolves elsewhere. Collegians purchased the site at a cost of $2.2m and completed it.
The centre features good quality lighting and an impressive main grandstand with undercover seating for 1,250 and six corporate boxes. The development also includes a new tennis and squash centre and rebuilt Orb Bowling Club.
