I don't mind Canberra Stadium, but it needs some work to bring it up to scratch. Mainly to deal with the ACT's freezing weather in winter - maybe build more of a roof or even some indoor seating.

There's a lot of good things about this stadium. Firstly, it's the most compact 25,000 seat stadium I've seen. Secondly, everything (shops, TAB, toilets) is easily accessible, and lines aren't usually too bad. The stadium is only about a 10 minute drive from the city. You're as close to the action as at any other ground in the country. And whilst I haven't sat in all 25,000 seats, I could confidently say that this stadium easily passes my "at least 90% quality viewing" test - this stadium would be at 100% for great vantage points. But the bad - the parking is a nightmare. The public transport, whilst this isn't a responsibility of the stadium but the local government, is really ordinary. It's really, really cold in winter - like colder than the rest of Canberra, due to the fact that it is quite literally a hole in the ground. Sun can occasionally be an issue - but given this stadium is used at night for rugby league for probably 80% of Raiders games, that isn't a massive issue. Undoubtedly, the stadiums biggest issue, and the reason I've been harsh on it's facilities rating, is that this stadiums major tennants are the Brumbies and the Raiders, who both play winter sports. So how on Earth can it be that approximately 75% of the seating here is not undercover? It rains, sometimes it snows in Canberra - if undercover seating was ever required, it would be at this ground.

It is a great stadium but it wasn't purpose built - and it shows. The idea was that it was designed as a national stadium of sorts for the Olympic sports as Bruce stadium was built to be the centrepiece of the AIS. It had an athletics track and had much less seating than it does now. All that changed in 1990 when the Raiders moved to the ground and its purpose shifted to that of a football stadium. For such a purpose, it was far from ideal. The ground was redeveloped for the 2000 Olympics by the addition of an 'inner bowl' which was just building seating over where the track once was and changing the dimensions to a rectangular field - no more AFL (there was only one AFL premiership game ever held here). It still feels incomplete and a bit tacked on. The ends are still unfinished. Overall though, it is still a very nice place to watch footy. I hope the A-League can establish itself here so there is year-round footy at Bruce, I mean Canberra, Stadium.

very good facilities - state of the art for sports. However, you feel that when you are there it is a little too far away from the action. Also the ground is difficult to get to without using public transport.
