Optus Stadium rooftop attraction to expand

Construction has commenced on a new rooftop platform to enhance Optus Stadium’s HALO experience.

Set to open in 2022, the Western Gantry attraction will give visitors uninterrupted views of Stadium Park, the Swan River, Perth’s CBD and surrounds, and the stadium’s playing surface.

The new gantry will expand on the popular attraction that opened in January 2021, where people can lean out over the field of play, perched 42 metres above the ground.

Similar to The Dare Skywalk at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the new $7 million attraction will be located on the western side of Optus Stadium and will project about 5 metres beyond the edge of the stadium’s roof.

The new attraction with include an elevator, giving people of all abilities the chance to view Perth’s landscape.

“The Stadium and its surrounding park precinct are fast becoming Perth’s premier entertainment destination,” Optus Stadium CEO Mike McKenna said.

“This new, complementary offering will be a major tourism drawcard for visitors and will allow people of all ages and abilities to enjoy 360-degree views of Perth and the world’s most beautiful stadium." 

Guests will be required to wear a safety harness while on the roof above the field of play, but can walk freely throughout the rest of the experience.

Tickets will cost $109 for adults and $66 for children. Prices will be higher for match days and special events, with the attraction open year-round.

Sports Minister Tony Buti said the Optus Stadium roof walk would rival Kalbarri’s new skywalk for WA’s best view.

“It will create probably the best rooftop viewing experience in the world,” Mr Buti said.
