Skinner Reserve
Skinner Reserve is an oval-shaped ground located in Braybrook, in the west of Melbourne. The venue was the home ground of former VFA club Sunshine Football Club. It has a wide playing surface, large grassed embankments for spectators, and the J. A. Chigwidden Stand which was demolished in late 2015. The estimated capacity of the ground is now around 5,000, although back in the glory days, 15,000 or more could have easily squeezed in.
During its construction in 1965, the then-Footscray Bulldogs made an application to the local council to relocate their playing and administration headquarters from the Western Oval to Skinner Reserve, however this was rejected and the lease was signed with Sunshine, who used the ground until they folded in 1989. The venue also hosted several VFA seconds/reserves finals matches, including Grand Finals. Cricket wasn't payed at the ground during most of its history, which meaning pre-season VFL matches were often played there. Sunshine George Cross also played some NSL home games at the ground.
The Braybrook Community Hub is located at the site and serves as the pavilion for Skinner Reserve since the grandstand was demolished in 2015. The ground was redeveloped in 2023.
